paintings   >   AWGP (after wood-grain patterns)

In this series, each gouache-and-acrylic painting is based on the wood-grain pattern of the panel that it is painted on. The following describes the process for making these works: 1) trace the wood-grain pattern of the face of the panel; 2) cover panel with opaque white acrylic ground; 3) apply layers of gouache and acrylic paint to the face of the panel; 4) transfer the wood-grain pattern onto the panel face; 5) modify the resulting image with acrylic paint.
